New dotted school exercise books support modern teaching methods at schools
Czech Republic/Brno, 2nd September – Lined, blank, and squared – the line of three kinds of commonly used school exercise books gets a brand new addition – dotted school exercise books. Particularly science teachers find high value in them as they interconnect the benefits of all three above exercise books. They help when creating graphs, drawings, and mind maps, and the resulting image is not full of distinctive lines that would ruin the impression. Papírny Brno have rolled out these exercise books in A4 and A5 formats. The design of the smaller format, A5, was created by students of the DELTA High School of Computer Sciences and Economics at Pardubice.
“The school exercise book with dotted lines represents a useful cross of a squared and classic lined notebook. The horizontal line of dots helps to keep writing on the same line while the vertical line of dots enhances the possibilities how to use this kind of exercise book, I would recommend it particularly for subjects from the rank of science. Teachers of natural history and biology usually want the students to use blank exercise books with pads due to the need of making various drawings and diagrams as the pre-printed lines are a disruption. I find this kind of exercise book an ideal choice standing somewhere in the middle,” describes Barbora Konečná, natural history teacher at the Karel Klíč Elementary School at Hostinné, the benefits and practical use of the exercise book.
Papírny Brno set a numeric standard for the designation of exercise books, and the brand new dotted addition to the line comes under number 8. The small dotted exercise book of the A5 format with 40 sheets of paper got number 548. And there is more to distinguish the exercise books. While the lined ones have some red elements on the cover, the blank ones have some blue elements, and the squared ones have some green elements, the dotted ones can be recognized by yellow unifying elements on the cover.
“The schools emphasize modern ways of teaching, project education, or help students find their own way to knowledge via mind maps today. And our dotted school exercise books are a good fit as they fully support making drawings and creating graphs in the subjects like natural science, physics, geography, or mathematics. Still, I would not recommend them to pupils on the first grade of primary school as they start learning to write and need full lines to see clearly what and how they are writing,” adds Petra Holubová, Marketing Manager at Papírny Brno.
Papírny Brno wanted the new exercise books to be in line with the taste of pupils and students of elementary and high schools today. Therefore, the design part is the result of work by the students of the DELTA – High School of Computer Science and Economics at Pardubice. Their covers were created during the classes of Computer graphic design. Examples of the exercise books, including their covers, are attached to this press release.
“We are pretty much excited about the cooperation with Papírny Brno. Honestly, I cannot imagine a better motivation for students than the vision that exercise books with their graphic design would be used by pupils and students throughout the country. Even the best school task can never beat it,” describes Jiří Formánek, Headmaster of the DELTA – High School of Computer Science and Economics, his experience with the cooperation.
